Early Years Foundation Stage

Our activities are thoughtfully planned around the seven areas of learning in the EYFS framework, ensuring a safe, engaging and well-rounded early years experience.

Through fun, age-appropriate activities, we support each child’s development while making learning varied, meaningful and enjoyable.

The EYFS is a mandatory framework for all Ofsted registered childcare providers. It was developed to ensure that all childcare services provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children.

We support children’s learning through carefully planned activities that are fun and appropriate to their needs. All activities will link to the seven areas of learning in some way so we can ensure that every child’s learning experience is varied, relevant and enjoyable! The seven areas of learning are:

Supporting children to build confidence, relationships and understand their feelings.
Encouraging listening, understanding and speaking skills through everyday interactions.
Developing coordination, movement and healthy habits through active play.
Introducing early reading and writing skills through stories, sounds and mark-making.
Building number awareness, counting and problem-solving through fun activities.
Helping children explore people, places, technology and the environment around them.

Inspiring creativity through art, music, role play and imaginative activities.

Our Facilities

At Stoughton Pre-School, we provide thoughtfully designed spaces to support children at every stage of their early development. Our Small Room offers a warm, home-from-home environment for children aged 18 months to 2.5 years, with a smaller group size to help them settle, build confidence and form close relationships. As children grow, they move into our Big Room, a vibrant, age-appropriate space for 2.5 to 5 year olds, rich in learning opportunities that support independence and help prepare them for school. We also benefit from a versatile courtyard garden and direct access to Stoughton Recreation Ground, giving children the opportunity to explore the park, green spaces and wider facilities right on our doorstep.
