At Stoughton Pre-School we believe it is important to provide children with positive healthy eating experiences in order to promote their health and well-being. To support this, we will will provide a healthy snack for all children during each morning and afternoon session at no extra charge.
We operate a Breakfast Club from 8.00am to 9.00am each day and also a daily Lunch Club from 12.00pm to 12.30pm. Unlike many other settings, we allow you to use your Funded Entitlement to cover the full costs of these sessions if that is your preference! The following arrangements apply for Lunch Club:
🍱
Parents are asked to provide lunch for their child if the child is booked to attend.
🥗
We encourage parents to provide healthy lunches.
🏷️
Lunch boxes must be labelled with the child’s name and placed on the lunch trolley.
❄️
No food will be cooked or heated. Only cold food such as sandwiches, fruit, and yoghurt is allowed.

We ensure that staff sit with the children to eat their lunch so that these times are a social occasion in which children and staff can participate. In order to protect children with food allergies, we discourage children from sharing and swapping their food with one another.

Fees & Funding

We know that childcare funding and fees can feel confusing, so we aim to keep things as simple and transparent as possible for our families. At Stoughton Nursery & Pre‑School, we offer flexible childcare options and accept all forms of government‑funded childcare. Funded hours can be used to cover all of our charges, including breakfast, lunch and extended day sessions. There are no hidden extras or top‑up fees you can use your entitlement to cover the sessions you need, with any additional hours charged at a clear, standard rate.

For full details of our current fees and funding options, please get in touch with us or download our fee information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Children can attend our setting from 18 months. Government‑funded childcare may be available from the term after your child becomes eligible, depending on age and circumstances. This can include working parent funding or funding that starts once your child turns two. Eligibility varies, so we encourage parents to speak to our team to understand what applies.
Yes. Some two‑year‑olds are eligible for up to 15 funded hours per week, depending on eligibility criteria. In addition, working parents of two‑year‑olds who meet the eligibility criteria may qualify for up to 30 funded hours through the working parent entitlement.
All children aged three and four are entitled to 15 hours of universal funded early education per week, regardless of household income. This funding is provided by the government and is usually offered over 38 weeks of the year but can be ‘stretched’ throughout the year.

Eligible working parents may qualify for up to 30 funded hours per week through the working parent entitlement. This can apply to some eligible two‑year‑olds, and eligible three and four year olds, in addition to their universal 15 hours. Eligibility is set by the government and requires a valid funding code, which must be renewed regularly.

Stretched funding allows funded hours to be spread across more than the standard 38 weeks, helping families manage childcare costs more evenly across the year.

We offer both standard termtime funding (38 weeks) and stretched funding across up to 48 weeks, in line with our yearround opening. This means your child’s annual funded entitlement is spread evenly across the year, providing more consistent childcare for working families.

  • 15hour entitlement: 570 funded hours spread over 48 weeks = 11.87 hours per week
  • 30hour entitlement: 1,140 funded hours spread over 48 weeks = 23.75 hours per week

This approach allows families to balance funded hours with the sessions they need across the year. We explain clearly how funded hours are applied and are always happy to talk through what this looks like for your child.

No. We do not charge top‑up fees. Funded hours can be used to cover all sessions, including breakfast, lunch and extended day care. Any hours beyond your funding entitlement are charged at our standard rate, with no hidden extras.

Absolutely. We’re always happy to help. Funding can vary depending on age and circumstances, so we encourage parents to speak to us or book a visit to talk through the options in person.
